Acceleration

In my words the definition of acceleration is starting momentum gaining velocity or speed. But, the true definition of acceleration is a change in velocity. Also just like velocity acceleration is a vector.

Pendelum Lab

Hypothesis

As length of the string increases then time as well will increase.

Methodology

  • 1. Gather materials, string, timer, meter stick, and pendelum.
  • 2. Tie pendelum to string securly.
  • 3. Find space to hang your string and pendelum from and hang it.
  • 4. Once hanging, measure the length of the string from point of hanging to the top of the pendelum, not the bottom.
  • 5. Record the length of the string.
  • 6. Pull pendelum back to a consistent spot each time such as a height on the wall drop pendelum not adding any intial force and have a partner time each swing. Back and forth is one. Do this for up to five swings.
  • 7. Record the data and divide the time recorded by five to find the time in one swing.
  • 8. After recording tie the string again to make it a longer length. then repeat you from step four until you have 7 peices of data.
  • 9. Make a graph of your data.
Conclusion

The hypothesis was proven to be true by the data recorded in the experiment, As length of the string increases then time as well will increase. In the 7 pieces of the time of each swing significantly increased when the length of the string was increased making the relationship a direct proportion. Due to the graph being a square route graph, that proves that time is directly proportional to the square route of length.
